Amenia's Spycatcher

The Amenia Historical Society presents Amenia's Spycatcher at the Amenia Town Hall Theater, 4899 Route 22, Amenia, Friday, August 21 and Saturday, 22, at 8 PM and Sunday, August 23, at 2 pm.  Free Admission

Amenia’s Spy-catcher is a new historical drama set in Amenia during the American Revolution by Amenia resident George Bistransin. The play retells generally unknown but remarkable events that happened to Amenia residents Ephraim and Mary Paine between 1777 and 1785. The play takes inspiration from “Grandmother’s Spy” by Paine’s descendent, which tells how Mary Paine caught a man who she believed was a British Spy. Celebrate the 250th anniversary of the founding of our country and learn about local history in an entertaining way.  Amenia's Spycatcher is funded by a Dutchess County Rev250 Grant.
