Beekman Park
5270 US-44, Amenia, NY 12501
In 1974, the land upon which the park is located was sold to the Town of Amenia by Walter Beekman for $1. The park was officially opened in 1983. Before the park existed, it was the site of Lake Amenia, formed in the 1920s by a freshwater dam over a sawmill pond at the intersection of Lake Amenia Road and West Lake Amenia Road. The park has three baseball and softball fields, a pavilion, playground and gravel drive that encircles the fields.
Wassaic Park
A remarkably beautiful, peaceful and secluded soccer filed and playground, Wassaic Park is located in the Wassaic Hamlet. It is bounded on the east by the Metro North railroad tracks, to the north by the former Borden factory Building, to the west by the Wassaic Creek and the south by a vacant NYSDEC parcel. It is accessed by a walking path from the Wassaic Hamlet along the rail road tracks or a foot bridge from 8 Borden Lane.
Borden Park
A one quarter acre parcel lying to the north side of the former Borden Factory. The Amenia Garden Club re-planted the park a few years ago. There are picnic tables and the Wassaic Creek runs along it.

The Wassaic Charcoal Pits are all that remain of the Reed, Gridley & Co. Iron Works, which remained open to the mid-to-late 1920s. The charcoal made in the pits was used to fire the Gridley Blast Furnace. Constructed of stone, the pits are about 30 feet in diameter with an entrance about six-feet high.
